Description:

The Dietary Aide plays a vital role in supporting the nutritional and overall well-being of residents in a long-term care setting. This position is responsible for assisting with meal preparation, serving meals in accordance with dietary requirements, and ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and delivery of meals following prescribed dietary plans and food safety standards.
Serve food to residents in the dining room or in their rooms as needed, ensuring meals are served at appropriate temperatures and with attention to portion control.
Set up and clean dining areas before and after meals, including sanitizing tables, chairs, and serving stations.
Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment in accordance with sanitation guidelines.
Follow all dietary orders, including texture-modified diets, allergies, and specialized nutritional needs. Restock supplies and maintain cleanliness in food storage areas, refrigerators, and workstations.
Collaborate with dietary staff and nursing teams to ensure resident preferences and nutritional needs are met.
Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.
Provide respectful and compassionate service to residents, supporting their dining experience with dignity and patience.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in food service or healthcare settings is a plus but not required.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (training provided).
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Compassionate attitude toward serving the elderly and individuals with special dietary needs.
